Course Description : Database Management System covers fundamental and advanced concepts in database design and management, including data models, relational databases, SQL, normalization, transaction management, concurrency control, and database security. Students engage in a combination of lectures, laboratory sessions, and hands-on projects to apply these concepts effectively. Emphasis is placed on designing efficient and reliable databases by utilizing tools like SQL queries, stored procedures, and database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL. Practical activities include creating and normalizing database schemas, developing complex SQL queries, implementing transactions and concurrency control mechanisms, and collaborating on database design projects. Students will also learn to apply best practices in database optimization, security measures, and explore emerging trends like NoSQL databases and big data management.
