Course Description : Assessment in Teaching and Learning explores foundational and advanced concepts in educational assessment within the context of information and communication technology (ICT). Course Objective : This module aims to impart the basic management knowledge, and skills to the students so as to enhance their managerial capabilities and enable them to apply in the practical field

Unit 1. Unit 1: Assessment and Evaluation 3 Hrs.

Concept of test, measurement, assessment and evaluation, Types of evaluation: purpose, tools and uses Diagnostic, Placement, Formative, Summative.
Unit 2. Unit 2: Characteristics of a Test 3 Hrs.

Essential qualities of a test, Reliability, Validity, Objectivity, Usability, Methods of estimating reliability, Test-retest, Parallel form, Split halves.
Unit 3. Unit 3: Construction of Teacher Made Test 3 Hrs.

Concept of teacher made test, Purposes of testing: Instructional, grading, diagnostic, selection, placement, counseling, curricular decisions and policy making, Types of test items, Subjective test: types, construction and uses, Objective test items: types construction and uses, Taxonomy of educational objectives: cognitive domain, Teacher made test: construction process, Planning the test: Writing instructional objectives, Preparing specification chart Preparing the test: preparing test items, Preparing instructions, Preparing scoring key and marking scheme.
Unit 4. Unit 4: Administration, Scoring and Analysis of Test 3 Hrs.

Conditions and administration of test, Scoring of subjective and objective answer sheets, Statistical analysis of test scores, Frequency distribution
Graphical representation: line-graph, bar-graph and pie chart, Central tendency: Mean, Median, Mode, Measure of dispersion: Standard deviation.
